Myint Thein arrived at the
2005 Mid-year Gem Emporium at Myanma Gems Mart on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road this morning.
The minister and the deputy minister
viewed round the shops at the mart and cordially greeted gem merchants from
home and abroad. Afterwards, they inspected the sale of gem lots through the
competitive bidding.
A total of 45 gem lots were sold
through competitive bidding today.
Altogether 1,961 local and foreign
gem merchants viewed round jade lots.
The jade lots will be put on sale on
11 October.

ceremony of the Performing Arts Competitions of Yangon Division heldA
YANGON, 9 Oct — The
prize-distribution ceremony of the 13th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing
Arts Competitions of Yangon Division in conjunction with handing over the flag
to ensure the success of the 13th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts
Competitions took place at Saya San Hall in the Kyaikkasan Sports Ground here this morning. It was attended
by Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of
Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint
Swe.
Commander Maj-Gen
Myint Swe handed over flag
to Secretary of Committee for ensuring success in the 13th Myanmar Traditional
Cultural Performing Arts Competitions Major Thein Zaw.
The commander made a speech saying
that the participants the central level competitions were to maintain the past
success of the division in conformity with rules and regulations of the
competitions.

Myint Swe then presented
prizes to the winners of the 13th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts
Competitions of Yangon Division and bestowed the prizes on the judges. Next,
Chairman of the Committee Lt-Col Nay Myo accepted
cash donated by the wellwishers. The participants
entertained those present with music and dance. There are 442 artistes from
Yangon Division who are going to participate in the performing arts
competitions — 153 in professional level, 73 in amateur level, 41 in higher
education level and 175 in basic education level.
